Recognition and Affiliation of Private Schools: Legal Requirements and Risks

Private school kholna sirf building aur benches se nahi hota. Recognition (school ke liye) aur affiliation (particular board ke sath – jaise state board, CBSE-type, etc.) ke liye detailed legal requirements hote hain.

Typically authorities check:

  • Land and building norms – size, safety, sanitation, playground,
  • Teacher qualifications and student–teacher ratio,
  • Financial stability and non-profit or regulated structure,
  • Library, labs, and basic facilities,
  • Compliance with child protection, anti-discrimination, and RTE-type norms.

Affiliation boards syllabus, exam standards, inspection reports, and governance structure evaluate karte hain. Unauthorized schools ya fake affiliations se students ka career risk me pad jata hai – unka certificate recognition problem face kar sakta hai.

Promoters ko yeh samajhna chahiye ki temporary recognition, ad-hoc affiliations, ya “approval under process” type claims se long-term brand build nahi hota. Non-compliance pe closure orders, heavy fines, aur even criminal liability possible hoti hai if cheating proven ho.

Parents ko admission se pehle affiliation status independent sources se verify karna chahiye – sirf glossy brochure ya hoardings pe depend mat karo.
